What course do you teach and what is the goal of the course? Entrepreneurship and Value Creation. The goal of the course is to expose students to the most realistic new venture experience possible and to make it accessible to students from diverse backgrounds. There is an emphasis on problem solving, opportunity recognition, and feasibility. How has LaunchPlan helped you run and manage your course(s) during the semester? LaunchPlan has enabled me to do what I do in the live classroom, online. At the country's largest state university we have a large number of students who really enjoy online learning. LP enables students to have a team/co-foudner experience outside of the classroom with others they may never meet face to face. LP also creates an environment to manage all aspects of new venture development as well as grading from the instruction standpoint. What's your favorite thing about using LaunchPlan? The support is awesome! I hear back from Ray and Matt immediately any time I have an issue and they have enabled me to create a custom course for my students that helps them apply for and win the ASU venture competition. Would you recommend LaunchPlan to other instructors teaching similar courses, and why? I would recommend LP to other instructors teaching similar courses, especially online! It allows for easy course management and easy collaboration between the students and between instructors and students.

What course do you teach and what is the goal of the course? I teach W313, New Venture Planning, and W409, The Spine Sweat Experience. The goal of W313 (a required course at Kelley) is to introduce students to the concepts of formatting and writing a business plan, with special attention given to understanding the principles of market research, market analysis, financial analysis and strategic, competitive analysis, and honing presentation skills. W409, The Spine Sweat Experience, is a course where students write a business plan around an idea they have - then present that concept to a panel of Venture Capitalists at the end of the semester. If the VC's like it - it's thumbs up, an "A", and investment money! If they don't like it - it's thumbs down, an "F", and you don't graduate! Just like the real world - you get funded, or you don't! How has LaunchPlan helped you run and manage your course(s) during the semester? LaunchPlan allows me to "properly monitor the team concept" by insuring all members of a given team are adequately contributing to the plan; in addition, the flexibility of LaunchPlan is tremendous, allowing me to utilize content for teaching, insert notes, and continuously communicate with my entire class, sharing articles, concepts, ideas and critiques without "calling meetings or having classes" - it's a 24-hour teaching tool! What's your favorite thing about using LaunchPlan? Again, I'd have to say the complete flexibility - being able not to just message, but to grade, critique, add comments/notes/ideas 'on the fly', chat, discuss - LaunchPlan is the first "real-time tool" for teaching I've been able to truly utilize to the fullest extent. Would you recommend LaunchPlan to other instructors teaching similar courses, and why? It's a fantastic tool for motivating students - getting the best out of every student. It allows them to work at a faster pace - but it also "catches the ones who like to wait until the last minute". LaunchPlan is an effective instrument for encouraging students "not to wait" - you can tell when someone's not writing or adding to a plan, so you can intervene at a much earlier stage. It also allows you to look at plans on a "daily basis", rather than waiting until an entire section is turned in for a review. It's an incredibly versatile tool - one YOU can customize and use in your own fashion, to get maximum results. So many of my students tell me, "It's the 21st Century - it's about time we had something like this where we could work on a business plan without having to meet in a room somewhere, or exchange emails or paper drafts!"

What course do you teach and what is the goal of the course? Florida State University students have had the pleasure of using the LaunchPlan software in both a classroom setting and as an integral component of our campus wide business plan completion, the InNOLEvation Challenge. I’ve used LaunchPlan in ENT 4013 – Planning New Ventures. This course includes a hands on approach to testing and adapting a business concept, developing a business plan, defining a marketing and distribution plan, gathering resources, and creating a financial pro forma. How has LaunchPlan helped you run and manage your course(s) during the semester? LaunchPlan’s unique ease of use combined with its thoroughness enables students from a broad range of disciplines to create quality business plans while providing the full complement of functionality necessary for sophisticated business models. What's your favorite thing about using LaunchPlan? The well thought out Financial Statement development module is particularly beneficial as it walks students through the process of creating their Pro Formas. Would you recommend LaunchPlan to other instructors teaching similar courses, and why? I’ve found the LaunchPlan team to be extremely responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend LaunchPlan.
